Nevertheless, coming back to the main topic, let us tell you some hacks for cleaning your leather jacket.

1. Say no to Bleaching

Bleaching is never a good idea, be it your face or your leather jacket. It does have a quick effect on the jacket but if we see it in a long term, they damage the product really badly. Therefore, their use on anything is not recommended at all. Apart from the bleach-based cleaners, stay away from ammonia-based cleaners as well. Both the cleaners have the tendency to damage the overall finish which causes the leather to dry excessively and even cracks. The use of too much water can also result in staining the leather.

The quick hack of cleaning the jacket is to leave it with the clean spills and a soft cloth immediately after you have stained it. Leather has the quality of being porous which is why it quickly absorbs the liquid leaving a stain on the jacket. The jacket easily scratches as well therefore make sure you are keeping all your sharpies away from your favorite jacket.

2. Use Toothpaste

Toothpaste does not only help in keeping your mouth clean but it also helps in getting stubborn stains from your clothes or anything you want to use. The best way to clean the stain off your leather jacket is to use your finger to apply the toothpaste to the stain. Make sure you are rubbing the stain gently with a soft cloth until the stain is lifted. Scrubbing is strictly not recommended as it can scratch or even discolor the whole jacket. Use a damp cloth to wipe the toothpaste off your jacket.

3. Nail Polish Remover

Nail polish removers are the best way to get the stains out of your regular clothes, I mean it does a lot more than just removing your nail paint from the nails. It’s time you take the nail paint remover from your makeup organizer and make the best use of it. I mean why you would go out and spend money on something that you may find in your home.

Nevertheless, blot the stained area by using a cotton swab that is dipped in the nail polish remover. Make sure you are not rubbing the spot, or you would end up spreading the ink all over the jacket. Keep blotting gently until you are sure the stain is gone. When you are done with it, wipe the jacket with a damp and clean cloth and later use a towel to dry it.

4. Baking Soda

Time to dig into your kitchen and see what can you use from it to clean your leather jacket. I mean you can use all the kitchen essentials to remove the stubborn jacket stains. All you have to do is sprinkle the baking soda or even the cornstarch on the stained spot. Use a damp cloth to make rub the stain gently. Remember to use your gentle and soft hands as the harder you will be on your jacket the more mess you are going to make. You do not want to make your jacket condition worse. Let the baking soda sit on your cloth for overnight or a few hours. The soda will take in all the oil, it’s time to wipe the powder off with the help of a soft cloth and again leave it to dry with a soft towel.

5. Rubbing Alcohol

Alcohol may not be good for your health or mind or your life but it can do wonders when it comes to cleaning. Make the mixture of rubbing alcohol with water, make sure they both are in the same quantity. Take one soft cloth and dampen it with the alcohol and apply it to the affected area. Use another slight wet cloth to wipe clean your jacket. The rubbing alcohol also helps in removing the mildew.

Now that you are done with the cleaning part, make sure you are applying a leather jacket to save it from completely drying and cracking!
