Australian premiers offer to re-home Ukraine refugees

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews recently tweeted more than a show of support for the people of #Ukraine.

The premier proposed to re-home some of the thousands of Ukraine citizens fleeing the conflict, who would like to call Australia home.

“With thousands of Ukrainians currently fleeing their home, Victoria stands ready to help all of them,” Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said.

“Because Victoria has a great Ukrainian community, with family and colleagues and loved ones who need our help.

“And we have a duty to do whatever we can to help protect naive people running from war.” The Premier’s offer came hours after thousands joined a rally in Melbourne’s CBD to oppose Russia’s assault and show support for Ukraine.

“NSW stands eager to assist the Federal Government in offering shelter to Ukrainians in necessary.”

While South Australia’s Premier, Steven Marshall, attended a union rally in Adelaide, providing his support to the people of Ukraine.

The premiers’ offers comes hours after Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced Australia will now provide funding to send weapons to Ukraine.

“The Australian Government will remain to stand up for what is right when it comes to Ukraine,”

“We are already offering significant support in conditions of non-destructive aid but I’ve just spoken to the defence minister and we’ll be looking for to provide whatever assistance we can for deadly aid through our NATO partners, mainly the United States and the United Kingdom.
