It is important to know all your options so that you are able to choose the best  product for your home, office or building project.

From the many options of materials of which doors or windows can be made from we are  going to take a detailed look at one of the rarest one, Aluminum. Aluminum windows and  doors are becoming an increasingly popular choice for contemporary buildings, both from  a residential and commercial standpoint.

Aluminum Doors

Types of Aluminum Doors

Aluminum doors offer strength maximizing on your safety and security, they are highly  durable and resistant to corrosion and other weather induced effects. Aluminum doors  are environmentally friendly due to their recyclable nature. they are strong, sturdy and  they offer great value for your money in comparison to other types of doors. The main  varieties of aluminum door types are: sliding doors, sliding-folding doors, hinged doors,  and French doors.

Hinged and French Doors

Hinged doors typically consist of either a solid aluminum panel door or glazed door affixed  to a door jamb with two or more hinges. Hinged doors are the most standard kind of doors  which are hinged either onto the left or the right side of the door jam. This allows them to  open inward or outward. These doors are manufactured either as a single door, or as a  double door. The double door variation is commonly referred to as a French door.

French doors are suitable as a main entrance door for both commercial and residential  buildings. In commercial applications, especially when fitted with glass, they can be  installed in offices, conference rooms and shopfronts.

Sliding Doors

Sliding doors open horizontally by sliding, usually parallel to a wall. A sliding door consists  of one fixed panel attached to two hangers on rollers which slide along a track. The panel  slides back and forth to create a door opening. Sliding doors are also commonly referred  to as patio doors. They are installed to extend over large entrances, and are just as suited  to home installations as they are to offices, malls and public buildings. In commercial  installations, they are often incorporated into shop fronts, curtain walls and glass facades.

Sliding Folding Doors

Also sometimes called folding-sliding doors, or concertina doors, aluminum sliding-folding  doors make for an innovative way to enclose exceptionally large openings. They are ideal  for a lounge or patio where there is a lovely garden or pool outside, or for a balcony door.  Sliding folding doors are stackable folding doors of multiple panels that slide and stack  neatly to one or two sides. Folding doors open by folding back in sections or so-called  panels.

You can use aluminium sliding doors as interior dividers or in place of walls (as long as they  are not load-bearing walls). They may be ideal for separating your foyer and living room,  or other rooms of your house.

What Are the Benefits of Aluminum Doors?

The benefits of aluminum are plentiful. This material allows you to combine both  performance and aesthetics. Thus, for many homeowners, aluminum doors and windows  offer several advantages over traditional timber or uPVC.

  • Outstanding acoustic and thermal insulation,
  • Excellent anti-burglary protection,
  • Low maintenance – wood needs regular sanding and revarnishing and can be  easily broken.
  • Eco-friendliness
  • Durable – aluminum doesn’t warp and discolor like wood does
  • Lower carbon footprint, can be recycled
  • Aluminum windows are aesthetically pleasant and versatile. Shows off glass Not affected by damp and rain and sunlight.
  • With a greater longevity, the aluminum frames are a better choice.

Aluminum offers you the opportunity to implement a durable, elegant and cost-effective  door for your space and building. Aluminum doors require virtually no maintenance, they  don’t rust, and even have a high threshold against corrosion. They are customizable to fit  huge spaces for residential or commercial applications.

Aluminum Windows

DOUBLE AND SINGLE GLAZED

When most people think of windows it’s actually the glazing type, they think of first. Let’s  look at the two main types of glazing a bit more.

SINGLE GLAZED WINDOWS

Single glazed windows simply have a single layer of glass to separate one environment  from another. This means that the only thing separating your home from the outside  environment is that pane of glass. A single glazed window can be up to 20 times less  efficient than an insulated wall when it comes to energy loss or storage. Choosing the right  type of glass such as a Low-E coating can slightly improve the performance. Laminated  single glazing is better for sound & UV reduction.

DOUBLE GLAZED WINDOWS

Double glazed windows are made with two layers of glass with a sealed or insulated air  space between which provides additional insulation from exterior environments when  compared to single glazing. Double glazing helps to reduce condensation on the  inside of your windows because the glass is not as cold as single glazed. The air gap  inside the double-glazing sandwich helps to keep the internal pane of glass closer to room  temperature.

Types of Aluminum Windows

Aluminum windows continue to be popular among homeowners. Aluminum is low cost  when compared with steel or fiberglass and requires little maintenance versus the other  materials due to its corrosion & U.V resistance, anti-bacterial properties, and durability.  Besides being used in residential dwellings, they’re commonly seen in industrial and  commercial structures.

FIXED WINDOWS

These windows do not open. They’re used to let in light and provide views of the outside.  They can be installed either as a stand-alone product or in conjunction with operable  windows. They can be almost any shape, including square, rectangle, arch, circle,  triangle, or a combination of these options.

AWNING WINDOWS

These are hinged from the top and the opening part is called a sash. Awning Windows  are designed to provide ventilation with a measure of protection from light rain. They can  be positioned in a variety of places, being able to stack vertically, combined horizontally  or coupled with other windows and doors. When left open, awning windows shield the  rain better than a casement window. No matter whether it’s a tall thin bathroom window,  a wider bedroom window or a living room window, these windows are common in all  homes/buildings.

CASEMENT WINDOWS

Casement windows are mostly suitable for the houses, which are located at an angle to  which the air blows. You do not need to worry about the facility air entering your home  with these types of windows as they offer added convenience for ventilation. Hinged to  the side rather than the top these are less common but some prefer the side opening  style. When the window is shut, they look the same as an awning window, with just  handles positioned on the side. Since the casement locks are mounted into the frame  and hook are shaped, they provide better security along with comfort.

BI-FOLD WINDOWS

These are made as two or more hinged panels that fold back to create a large opening.  Bi-fold Windows are less demanding in terms of maintenance as they are easy to clean.  They allow considerable access to the outside space of your home. Bifold windows are  best with an even number of panels as this makes it easier to open and close the window.  Bifold windows are often used to create a seamless opening between the indoors and  out, in areas such as kitchens or bars. With this type of aluminum windows, you will have  a long-term, smooth operation facility.

SLIDING WINDOWS

As the name suggests, these aluminum windows are operated by sliding them from one  side to another. They are easy to operate, and one of the most common types of light  metal windows. Sliding windows have one sliding track, which enables the panels to slide  behind the fixed panel. They are great for increasing air-flow or connecting indoor &  outdoor living areas. As the sliding panels don’t protrude past the frame, they are a safe  option for walkways or high traffic areas. If you appropriately use a glazing combination,  you can modify their insulation capabilities and energy efficiency.

Advantages of Aluminum Windows

  • Powder-coated aluminum is extremely durable, which means whatever finish you  choose will last for a very long time. Aluminum windows can last up to 20 years.  Powder coating is a far better finish in terms of eco-ratings.
  • Aluminum windows are also environmentally friendly. Aluminum is infinitely  recyclable – when you recycle it, it creates very high-quality new aluminum and  the process only uses 5% of the energy needed to create the initial metal.

Due to the strength of aluminum, less material is required in the frame to hold the  glass. As a result, narrower frame profiles are possible for designs that have  sleeker, slimmer lines for a more streamlined overall aesthetic.
